SHOPPING

On site, there is a small supermarket selling the essentials (see supermarket doors for opening times), and during high season fresh bread and croissants in the mornings. Cigarettes are available from the bars, and telephone cards and stamps from the supermarket. In the evenings there are sometimes market type stalls selling various gift ware.

Parentis-en-Born

The nearest village is perhaps Parentis-en-Born. Here you will find the nearest larger supermarket “super u” (at the main lights at Parentis-en-born, turn right and it is on your right hand side). Opposite this you will also find a good petrol station, along with a DIY store, a bank with a cash machine, and various other smaller shops. For the main village shops turn right just before the above mentioned lights and you will find some smaller shops including a good gift shop, and a tabac which also has some gifts. Here too is the restaurant “Chez Flo”. This has a very good menu that is reasonably priced – around 10 Euros for 2 or 3 course lunch including a quarter of wine, and 15 Euros plus for a three course evening meal with a quarter of wine, with tables both indoors and out. The village also has a couple of boulangerie/ patisserie (bread/ cake) shops as well as a post office.

Biscarrosse

At the lights at Parentis-en-Born, turn left towards Biscarrosse. On route to Biscarrosse you find various larger shops off of the main road such as garden centres and “Michigan”. This shop sells all sorts of bits and pieces such as garden furniture, normal furniture, diy goods, bedding, toys, ornaments, kitchen ware, gifts etc. In Biscarrosse itself you will find lots of smaller shops and on the outskirts are more, yet larger supermarkets which are well signposted. You will first come to another “Super U” and beyond that a “LeClerc”. Opposite the latter you will also find a “LeCLerc” DIY store, along with a large shoe shop, a large clothes shop, a large toy shop, and a “MacDonalds”.

Biscarrosse Plage

Here you will find many restaurants offering a good range of seafood, as well as smaller, mainly gift shops.

Mimizan

Here you will find many smaller shops with a “LeClerc” supermarket and a “Michigan” (as mentioned before), on the edge of the town. Here too is a “Nettos” which we have been informed is good for buying meat at a reasonable price.

Mimizan Plage

This is great for seaside shopping! There are lots of shops selling swimwear, and clothing as well as gifts and ornaments. There are also several snack type restaurants selling crepes, doughnuts and ice cream as well as newsagents, tabacs, and boulangeries.

Potteries

As you drive around the area you will find shops selling locally produced pots and earthenware products along with wines and aperitifs traditional to the region.
